The internet is buzzing over news that a movie named “Crossed” which was co-written by hip hop icon Heavy D is currently being developed. The Jamaican-born New York MC died from a pulmonary embolism in 2011, a month after his first performance in 15 years. Dwight “Heavy D” Myers was the leader of Heavy D & the Boyz who made five albums, he went on to be an actor appearing in 9 movies and over a dozen TV shows.
His good friend and producer Gordon Bijelonic recently announced he would pay homage to Heavy D’s legacy by making the film. According to Avery.O Williams who co-wrote “Crossed” the late rapper was meant to be in the starring role as it was originally developed around him. The movie is based around a gritty NYPD detective that crosses legal and moral lines to put a drug kingpin behind bars. It has been said that Heavy D was dropping weight and improving his physique for the role.
RIP Heavy D!
