Moving through to the second half of the year we continue to see some great inline releases from Asics Tiger. This months lineup embraces OG silhouettes in the Gel Mai and Asics Gel Lyte whilst keeping things fresh with updates to classic silhouettes in the Gel-Kayano Trainer Knit and Gel Lyte V NS.
With the spotlight being heavily on the resurgence of the Gel Mai this year the iconic asymmetrical runner is dipped in very subtle ‘Marzipan’ and ‘Carbon’ colour ways – The monochromatic styles have been a big hit amongst us here at THEXCHNG and we’re excited to see what the rest of the year will bring for the 90’s running icon.
Moving attention onto the Gel Lyte, wrapped in it’s OG colourway with materials and colours reissued directly from an archived pair from 1987 the silhouette shows it’s rich heritage as precursor of the classic Gel Lyte line which gave us such styles as the GLIII and GLV. With it’s recognisable heal wrap and sharp c/w the Gel Lyte is available right now at selected Asics Tiger retailers.
Following some years later in 1993 the GLV switched out the unconventional closure system of the GLIII for a neoprene sock-like upper that hugged the foot and provided support unlike anything previously seen from AT. Fast forward to 2017 and the Gel Lyte V receives a ‘no sew’ update that strips the pair of complex stitching in place of sleeker panels fused together and creating a very subtle look. We see the silhouette clad with geometrical patterns for it’s debut with this upcoming pack available now.
We finally turn our heads to the Gel-Kayano Trainer Knit, taking the fierce Kayano Trainer and wrapping it in Asics breathable knit. The upper creates a mono-sock upper which provides comfort in all the right spots whilst the use of AT’s ‘Space Dye’ brings colour to the pair with a single multi hued thread integrated into the knit. Wrap the streets with the Gel-Kayano Trainer Knit via selected Asics Tiger stockists now.
