Mac Millers New Album The Divine Feminine Is Breaking Boundaries

Two weeks ago Mac Miller gifted his fourth studio album The Divine Feminine to the masses and it’s safe to say the Pittsburgh MC is pushing boundaries once again with this latest release. Essentially it’s a feminist love album, but it’s also so much more than that.

On his previous mix tapes and albums there was a heavy focus on his personal struggles with addiction as well as touching on his rocky assimilation into the life of a young, successful hip hop artist. Coming off the back of being completely sober for 3 months The Divine Feminine is Mac’s way of opening up to his final vulnerability, love.

Aside from being an album focused on romance and the lessons he has learned from woman it also appears to be a breathe of fresh air for Mac. He’s opened up about all other aspects of his life on previous releases and The Divine Feminine is basically breaking down that final frontier of love.

Boasting features from Anderson Paak, Ty Dolla Sign, Kendrick Lamar and Arianna Grande this album is a carefully constructed synopsis on the emotion of love and learning from women. The first single “Dang!” featuring Anderson Paak was released on July 28, 2016 and has been gaining some serious radio play thanks to a funky beat and even catchier hook.

The 24 year old Pittsburgh native shines bright on this release with the spoils of his continued musical growth and ingenuity as he begins to showcase his singing abilities more. The last track featuring Kendrick Lamar is a definite highlight of the album and brings together their best for an incredibly smooth and seductive song.

Critics and fans alike have lauded his cadence and acknowledged that this is a unique rap album in the way it projects women and speaks on romance. It contains all essences of relationships and sexuality speaking greatly on sex, seduction and admiration with an unseen level class and sensitivity.

Mac was quick to downplay speculation that the album was written about Arianna Grande who features on the song “My Favourite Part”. However, much to the joy of their fans they recently started dating after hanging out for the first time in years to complete that track.
