When the topic of UK Grime is mentioned, one of the first artists that often comes up is SKEPTA. After a somewhat recent rise in the public eye the British-Nigerian MC has now gone one step further and landed himself a very fitting collaboration with non other than Nike on the Air Max 97.
After a set of teasers were posted earlier this week via his Instagram eluding to an upcoming footwear release we’re now pleased to say that official images have come forth featuring an iridescent 97. With inspiration taken from the 1999 Air Max Tuned (the first pair Skep “saved money for”) and palettes of the beautiful Morocco the polyurethane clad upper appears to change colours under certain light whilst the loose ‘sandwich mesh’ ties everything together. Swapping out an embroidered swoosh for a heat fused logo and the adding of the iconic ‘Tuned Air’ logo to the innersole reading “Sk Air”. Small touches of brilliance that really highlight this release amongst a big year for the AM97. No official word yet as to weather we will see the matching apparel drop.
After last years rumoured Air Max BW release was unfruitful we’re very happy to see the tracksuit mafia representative get his own release early next month.
You’ll catch these from September 2 at selected retailers or Nike.com
